Pilot Training

REMOTE PILOT TRAINING

Do you want to be a remote pilot of aircraft up to 25Kg?

At Ibiza Drone Works we prepare our students and give the necessary training to obtain the required certificates to pilot Drones / UAS legally and in compliance with current regulations.

We took the practical exam STS 01-02

Ibiza Drone Works is an entity authorized by AESA to carry out STS exams

COURSES AND EXAMS AVAILABLE

Qualifications required to be able to pilot a Drone / UAS

A1 / A3

Open Category

The operations in subcategory A1 are carried out avoiding the overflight of non-participants and concentrations of people.

Operations in subcategory A3 are carried out in controlled land areas where no non-participating person is exposed at risk and at a minimum horizontal safety distance of 150 m from residential, commercial, industrial or recreational areas.

A2

Open Category

Operations insubcategory A2 are carried out maintaining a horizontal safety distance of at least 30 m from persons not participating in the operation.

Operations in subcategory A2 will only be performed with UAS that carry the class C2 marking label.

STS

Specific Category

The ‘specific’ category comprises thoseUAS operations with a medium riskthat cannot be performed in the open category.

Before carrying out air operations in a specific category with UAS, it is necessary for an operator registered in Spain to request and Obtain an operational authorization issued by the State Aviation Safety Agency (hereinafter AESA) or present a declaration regarding an operation that conforms to a standard scenario.

Course, Drone Pilot Exam in Ibiza, Formentera, Mallorca

Do you want to be a professional drone pilot?

Working as a drone pilot can be an exciting profession, in an industry that is clearly growing.

Our courses are adapted to the new European drone / UAS regulations – EU Delegated Regulation 2019/945 and EU Execution Regulation 2019/947.

Next we will show you the classes of drones and the necessary titles to be able to pilot them.

Ibiza Drone Works is an entity authorized and recognized by AESAto teach theoretical and practical classes.

We also take a flight test to get the practical STS.

DEPENDING ON UAS / DRONE YOU WANT TO PILOT, YOU WILL NEED A CERTIFICATE OR OTHER

Types of Drones / UAS by class marking

You will need to be familiar with the manufacturer’s manual, in addition to taking an online course and the corresponding A1 / A3 theory exam

Class C4 - Less than 25KG AND WITHOUT AUTOMATIC CONTROL
  • MTOW less than 25 kg including payload.
  • Do not incorporate automatic control modes (except for assistance in flight stabilization without direct effect on the trajectory and assistance in loss of link, provided that a predetermined fixed position of the flight controls is available in case of loss of link).
  • Intended for the practice of model aircraft.

You will need to be familiar with the manufacturer’s manual, in addition to taking an online course and the corresponding A1 / A3 theory exam

Class C5 - Less than 25KG and fixed wing (except captive)
  • MTOW less than 25 kg
  • Not be a fixed wing UAS, except if it is captive.
  • Clear information system on the flight altitude.
  • Selectable low speed mode to limit UAS to 5 m / s maximum.
  • Recovery system or safe landing, in case of loss of link.
  • Lost command and control link recovery system, or UAS safe landing or flight termination system.
  • Data link protected against unauthorized access to command and control.
  • Electrical power supply.
  • Unique serial number.
  • Direct distance identification systems.
  • Geo-consciousness system.
  • Low battery warning systems in UAS and control station.
  • Built-in night flight and altitude control lights.
  • If it incorporates a flight limitation system in specific areas or volumes of airspace, it must inform the pilot of such impediment.
  • If a C3 class UAS incorporates accessories or enhancements that can be placed within the C5 class, it will be considered a C5 class drone.
  • Unchanged Accessory Kit on Class C3 UAS.
